National Geographic Daily Dozen

Each week day, National Geographic posts 12 of the top photos sent their way from amateur international photographers. This is a great way to learn about our world and gain insight into the photographic skills of others. Although we don't yet have photos from around the world, click here to access our class photo blog.

January Photo Challenge

RAW is Boston.com's amateur photography blog. Their byline is, " Take pictures ... get published ... win money ... have a blast." The blog features various photo contests including a theme based monthly contest.

The theme for January is, "What's that?"  In their words, "The idea is to take a photo of an object that is difficult to identify. It can be an extreme close-up, part of an object, or just something odd. Be as tricky as you'd like, but make sure it's still a good photo. Since the judge won't know what the object is, your photos will be judged on technical merits. So use lighting, shadows, composition, lines, and angles to create a visually interesting image."

We will are going to take THEIR theme and use it here at GLTS.

You will be given ONE day take to take photos of items around the school and ONE day to edit, crop, adjust and tune our photos. And then, we will display our photos for your classmates to see and then and speculate and scratch their heads about. It should be fun!
