Graphic Communication Students - A List Apart

A List Apart Magazine (ISSN: 1534-0295) explores the design, development, and meaning of web content, with a special focus on web standards and best practices. Its Been Awhile

Yes, it HAS been a while since I have posted to the class blog! Where did the time go? The third quarter is quickly coming to an end. Many students are wrapping up their quarterly work, looking forward to the April break and seniors are getting ready for NOCTI testing. In preparation for their exams, students are reviewing vocabulary and concepts associated with their shops. Look for specific posts for each shop. Stay tuned.

Instructions: How to Write for Busy, Grouchy People

Did the title of this post grab your attention?! It certainly got mine! As I perused documentation for my Information Technology students, I came across this article from Dennis Jerz of Seton Hill College in Pennsylvania; it addresses how to write instructions for busy, grouchy people.  As students work in their small groups to develop technical instructions (for parents) they need to keep in mind that most people hate to read instructions.

The Stevens Estate

Graphic Communication students are working with the Stevens Estate in North Andover. Our classes visited the estate and met with the Estate Manager, Mrs. Laura Gifford.
